Making a Murderer’s Brendan Dassey will be attending Wrestlemania

Making a Murderer’s Brendan Dassey will be attending WrestleMania 33. Dassey was featured on the Netflix documentary and is a big WWE fan. Throughout the show, he stated that his dream was to attend a WrestleMania event. For those who didn’t see the documentary, it focused on both Dassey and his uncle Steven Avery’s trials following the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005. Dassey was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, second-degree sexual assault, and mutilation of a corpse in 2007. Dassey was six months shy of being 18-years-old and was convicted as an adult.

In 2014, his current attorney, Laura Nirider, filed a writ of habeas corpus in federal court claiming that “Brendan’s Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights to due process were violated by the admission of his involuntary confession.”

Dassey’s conviction has been overturned, and he could be out of prison in the next 90 days. He and his family plan to travel to Florida and attend the event.

“We are pleased that we can make this young man’s dream of going to Wrestlemania come true,” said Alex Hawkins, spokesman for xHamster, in a statement. “We have been in talks with the family and they are more than thrilled that Brendan will get this opportunity after so many years of heartache and injustice. We are waiting on a response from Brendan and we know he will be thrilled that he is going to Wrestlemania when he gets out.”
