Details on what WWE had planned for Finn Balor prior to his injury

WWE had to make a bunch of changes to this week’s episode of Raw following the news about Finn Balor’s torn labrum. Prior to the injury, the plan was for Balor to defend the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens at next month’s Night Of Champions pay-per-view.

The plan for Night Of Champions was for a match finish that would lead to Balor defending against Owens and Chris Jericho at the 10/30 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in Boston.

Instead, WWE will crown a new Universal Champion this Monday night on Raw. Seth Rollins, Owens, Big Cass and Roman Reigns will all be competing for the title on Monday night. Reigns and Rollins were supposed to be out of the title picture for a few months but now that Balor is out for 4-6 months, the plans for Reigns and Rollins could have changed.

WWE management is very high on Big Cass and he is considered to be a long-term project. It will be interesting to see if they pull the trigger on him early on Monday night but my guess is that they will put the title on Rollins or Reigns again.
