Jim Ross on Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura being called up to main roster, Paige VanZant

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on various topics. In the blog, Ross commented on Paige VanZant’s fight against Bec Rawlings at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 21 event and stated that he believes she would be a great investment for the WWE.

“Good luck to @paigevanzantufc this weekend at UFC Fight Night on Fox. We met Paige at UFC 200 in Vegas and discovered that she was a big, WWE fan notwithstanding a lovely person in more ways than one. I think that Paige Van Zant can be a great investment/resource for WWE in the future.”

During Daniel Bryan’s interview with Michael Cole on WWE.com on Friday, Bryan said that he thinks Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura should be called up to the main roster. Ross believes that when the two NXT stars are called up it will be big news.

“Why is there so much debate whether or not Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura ‘belong’ on the WWE main roster? Of course their individual skills merit the ‘promotion’ if that ‘s what it truly is from NXT. NXT is a brand and that brand needs stars to sell tickets and to draw crowds for the younger talents in which to work and develop their skills. The good news is that when Joe and Nakamura are called up it will be big news and it will help stimulate business. What many fans don’t understand is that no wrestling promotion can get ‘over’ several talents at once. Even if the two aforementioned wrestlers get placed on RAW or Smackdown Live, they still have to ‘get over’ with those TV audiences. It’s a process without question but declaring that Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura are ready for ‘prime time’ isn’t a revelation.”

Ross also talked about his upcoming one-man only shows and more. You can read the entire blog here. In you haven’t, you can listen to the latest episode of the Ross Report here:
