CM Punk on fighting with Mickey Gall at UFC 203, his skill level, more

CM Punk spoke with Brian Stann during Saturday’s UFC on FOX 21 event to promote his fight with Mickey Gall at UFC 203. When asked if he is happy with where his training is at this point in his MMA career, Punk said that he is a “kind of guy who is never going to be happy because I’m always striving to be better than I am.” Punk then added that he is satisfied with his skill level.

Stann mentioned Punk’s career in WWE and being used to working in front of a big crowd while with the company. Punk said that he assumes that he will have nerves going into the fight because it’s his first MMA fight and not due to the cameras or the crowd.

Stann noted that he spoke with Gall recently, who said that Punk’s time would be over when he steps into the Octagon. Punk replied by saying “Sweet. He’s supposed to say stuff like that.” Punk explained that MMA is about punching people in the face to see who the better man is. Punk added that he is not fighting to be a star but because he wanted to do it and was afforded the opportunity. Punk noted that he would be a fool to say no to this opportunity.

Punk explained his game plan against Gall is to pressure him because Gall’s previous fights have ended quickly.

UFC 203 takes place on Saturday, September 10th, at The Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
