As noted earlier, Randy Orton will face Brock Lesnar at the September 24th live event in Chicago. As of now, it doesn’t appear that this will air as a special on the WWE Network. The show is scheduled for the night before the Clash Of Champions pay-per-view.
In the past, they’ve stacked up Madison Square Garden cards but the reason for that is because it’s expensive to run shows at MSG so the only way that it makes sense to do the show financially is to sell out the arena. That could be the case for the Chicago show or they just want to get the rematch out of the way so that Lesnar can move onto another program when he returns to TV.
Here is the official announcement from the AllState Arena:
Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar rematch announced for Sept. 24 Live Event in Chicago
The Beast and The Viper are going to war again. Just more than a week after a controversial TKO loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Randy Orton confirmed on Twitter that he will receive a rematch against The Conqueror at the WWE Live Event in Chicago, Illinois, Saturday, Sept. 24.
The match at SummerSlam was arguably Lesnar’s most savage performance since returning to WWE in 2012, and one of the most agonizing defeats for The Apex Predator in some time. The Beast laid into Orton with a barrage of strikes that busted him open and forced WWE officials to call the match off, awarding the victory to Lesnar.
Orton received 10 staples as a result of Lesnar’s assault, and The Beast was fined by Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon for his actions. Hopefully, she has her checkbook ready for “The Rematch.” Come to think of it, SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon might want to set a few dollars aside, too. Orton does not take well to being upstaged, and it’s just as likely that Lesnar ends up on the receiving end of some ruthless aggression this time around.
Be sure to head to WWE.com’s Events section for ticket availability and special VIP packages to witness “The Rematch” in person.
