It’s been pretty much confirmed that Billy Corgan is the main man in charge of TNA Wrestling. Dixie Carter is “largely gone,” according to the Wrestling Observer newsletter and her role as “Chairman” is a face-saving role at this point.
Carter did not stay for all of the last TV tapings and, at this point, she cares about leaving without egg on her face. It’s hard for her to leave without egg on her face when you look at TNA’s decline in the last few years. Corgan was on Vince Russo’s podcast and confirmed some of the reports about financial problems in the company. He admitted that TNA’s major problem has been attracting sponsors so that they can stabilize their financial situation.
Corgan has his work cut out for him. TNA needs more than hardcore fans to watch the show. They need to find new fans and the viewers that were watching when they were on Spike TV. They could also use some help from Pop TV but it doesn’t look like they are going to bend over backwards to promote the show. Jessie Godderz appeared on a recent episode of “Big Brother.” You would think that since CBS owns Pop TV then they could mention that Godderz wrestles on TNA Impact Wrestling. There was no mention of TNA and he was just referred as a pro wrestler.
