The whirlwind media tour for CM Punk is about to kick into high gear this week as he gets ready to step into the Octagon for the first time on Saturday night. Naturally, questions about WWE will come up during interviews and media appearances and, during the UFC 203 media call, Punk was asked about Conor McGregor’s recent comments about the WWE roster. For those that missed it, McGregor said that he could slap every member of the WWE roster and called them “messed up p*ssies.” He did praise names like Vince McMahon, Triple H, Steve Austin, The Rock and Ric Flair.

Regarding McGregor’s comments and the response from some of the roster, Punk said, “A lot of feelings were hurt, though – I can tell you that much – which I thought was a little strange.” He added that guys need to leave their emotions out of things but “these guys still don’t know.”
Punk said that he doesn’t really care about the McGregor-WWE thing and that “It’s a hard thing to comment on, because the amount of people who responded to him made me feel like they were told to respond to him.” He also said that there are always grey areas when you have the biggest name in sports handing out insults like that towards the WWE roster and you are left wondering if it’s a work or not a work.

The last word on the McGregor-WWE situation is that the wrestlers that responded were not told anything by WWE and there is no deal with McGregor and WWE. Something could always be worked out later but McGregor’s comments are not part of an angle at this point.
