Alex Riley says incident with John Cena changed the path of his career, comments on CM Punk’s WWE departure

Former WWE Superstar Alex Riley recently appeared on The Ross Report to talk about his career and more. During the interview, he was asked about his issues with John Cena. In 2011, it looked like Riley was going to get a big push by WWE but then it stopped. There have been rumors for years that something happened between him and John Cena that led to his push being stopped. Riley stated that there was an incident that definitely changed the path of his career but he will not discuss it right now but in the future, he would. He noted that it was a tough situation and that they can leave it at that.

When asked about CM Punk’s departure from the WWE in 2014, Riley said that he doesn’t understand it and that he knows that there was something about a medical thing with Punk but thinks that is part of wrestling and what wrestlers sign up for. He said that he doesn’t know what Punk made while in WWE but thinks that it’s a lot. He stated that if somebody was going to pay him over a million dollars, then it doesn’t matter if you’re hurt. He said that he was begging for somebody to give him work and asking people every day why he is not being used and never getting an answer. “So to hear him push for other opportunities and get it, and then exit in the fashion he exited, I don’t know, I can’t sympathize with that because I wouldn’t do that, I don’t know the details of what he went through, but who knows.”
