Despite the fact that The Undertaker returned to the Smackdown Live in November and seemed to indicate that he would be going after Superstars from that brand, he returned to Monday Night Raw this week and told Stephanie McMahon that he would be entering the Royal Rumble. There must have been a shift in creative plans because, just a few weeks ago, there was strong talk within WWE about AJ Styles vs. The Undertaker at the Rumble for the WWE Championship.
When Taker announced his entry into the Royal Rumble, they showed Braun Strowman watching the monitor backstage and we speculated that it could mean that Taker would face Strowman at WrestleMania. That is not the case and, as Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio, Strowman will not be facing The Undertaker at Mania. Taker will be facing a Raw Superstar but they have other plans for Strowman.
It’s not clear who they have in mind as Stowman or Taker but by process of elimination, Roman Reigns would make sense as a potential opponent for either man.
Things can always change but as of now, part of the WrestleMania card looks like this:
Matches locked in for the show
– Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg
– Triple H vs. Seth Rollins
– Shaquille O’Neal vs. Big Show
Likely matches
– Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens
– Sasha Banks vs. Bayley – Raw Women’s Championship
– Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
