After the first round matches of the WWE UK Championship tournament took place in Blackpool, England, Triple H and William Regal took part in a press conference. During the press conference, Triple H was asked about WWE possibly holding another PPV event in the UK. The last time that WWE has held a live PPV event in the country was back in 1992 at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Triple H said that he believes that is the goal of the company (holding a PPV event in the country). He noted that it’s very difficult process with PPV schedules and coming to the UK or globally to perform live with a live TV component. He added that to following that up with RAW, and SmackDown TV events is a massive undertaking for the company. He noted that five events were going on Saturday under the WWE banner. Two main roster live events; two NXT live events and the WWE UK Championship tournament. He said that there are between 18 to 21 trailer trucks that come to events and that’s it’s tough to get them over the ocean. He said that it’s a goal for WWE to hold a PPV event in the UK and that the WWE UK Championship tournament was one step closer to that goal becoming a reality.
