Triple H recently spoke with IGN to promote the new WWE Studios animated movie, Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania. During the interview, he was asked about Kurt Angle being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Triple H said that he thinks it’s a very well deserved induction into the Hall of Fame and that WWE has had an association with Angle for a long time. He noted that when Angle was with WWE, he was one of the most impactful and memorable and iconic characters probably ever in the company’s history. He noted that Angle came right out of the Olympics and started training to be a pro wrestler. He noted that Angle went from knowing nothing to becoming one of the best in the world very fast. He said that his job is to focus on talent and recruiting and that he has never seen someone pick up pro wrestling as fast as Angle did. “I’m really happy for Kurt as a human being. I’m also happy that he’s a really good place in his life right now.”
When asked about this year’s Royal Rumble match, Triple H noted that its one of the biggest, most star-studded Rumbles that he can recall. He said that just look at the stars in the match and listed Goldberg, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. “Sometimes there’s a year in the Rumble where you think “Okay, I can see this or that happening. This seems like where the Rumble might be headed.” But this year, it’s really tough to call. And I think that’s when the Rumble’s at its best when you can’t really put your finger on what’s going to happen.” He added that he can see this year’s Royal Rumble going a lot of different ways and that it’s going to go in a way that none of the fans expect.
