Marina Shafir recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of SI.com about various topics. During the interview, she was asked how the Four Horsewomen of MMA might fare in WWE if they were to ever appear for the company. For those who do not know, the Four Horsewomen consist of Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, Shafir and Shayna Baszler. She said that wrestling is a show and entertainment that you are playing off a character that you perceive to be. She said that none of them would have a problem with losing in a wrestling match, especially Rousey. She said that she doesn’t think that they would overshadow the women’s division if they were to wrestle but she does think that they would be a force to be reckoned with in WWE. “All of us are at different stages in our lives, but synchronicity eventually happens. There will be a point in all of our lives where we’re orbiting around the same goals.”
When asked if she thinks that Rousey would fight again in the UFC following her devastating loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 last month, she said that she doesn’t know if Rousey will ever fight again. She noted that Rousey is very dedicated and passionate. She pointed out that everyone thinks that they know Rousey but they don’t. She said that Rousey needs to be left alone and process this on her own. She noted that Rousey wasn’t there in the fight and that there is nothing wrong with that. She noted that Rousey made her impact on the sport despite what the media said and that she is still impacting women, fight industry, and other things. “No one likes a winner, and she’s still won at life, so that’s why the hate continues. I understand if she decides to fight again and I also understand if she doesn’t.”
Shafir also talked about her ideal opponents in WWE and more. You can read the entire interview here.
