AJ Styles says working with John Cena made him a better wrestler, comments on part-time WWE stars

WWE Champion AJ Styles recently spoke with FOX Sports to promote Sunday’s Royal Rumble PPV event. During the interview, he was asked if there is resentment backstage to part-timers in the company. He noted that he doesn’t think anybody should be angry with anybody taking time off because they might need it. He noted that if these guys get run into the ground then what are they going to be later, so let them take time off because when they return they will still be stars. He said that it’s not going to change and that it will give more opportunities for guys like him who support their family and do it well for as long as they can.

When asked about calling John Cena a part-timer, he noted that Cena is a part-timer sometimes in WWE but noted that Cena works harder than anybody he has ever seen. He said that Cena is on The Today Show in the morning and then flys and wrestles at WWE event at night sometimes. He noted that Cena works hard, so he gets it and admitted that he has become a better performer because of Cena and he likes that. “But as far as respect goes, I want it all. I don’t just want it from John Cena, I want it from the guy and the girls on The Today Show. I want it from the people who made the Royal Rumble poster.”

Styles also talked about Kurt Angle and more. You can read the entire interview here.
