NXT Takeover: San Antonio results – Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Bobby Roode, Seth Rollins crashes the show

Welcome to the NXT Takeover: San Antonio special. We get an intro video package and kick things off with the following match.

Singles Match: Eric Young vs. Tye Dillinger.

They exchanged strikes to start off the match. Dillinger took him down and landed a series of strikes. Dillinger was sent to the floor, and Big Damo took out Dillinger. Young hit an elbow drop off the top rope once they were back inside the ring. Dillinger rolled out to the floor. Young started choking Dillinger then covered him for 2. Young went to the top rope, and Dillinger cut him off. Young shoved him off the top rope and went for a dive, but Dillinger hit him with a drop kick. Dillinger fired back with a series of strikes then a back body drop. Young went to the top rope, but Dillinger met with him and hit a belly to belly suplex for 2. Dillinger landed a series of foot stomps then tossed in Wolfe and hit a tiebreaker. He hit a super kick to Big Damo. Young attacked Dillinger from behind and then went for his finisher, but Dillinger rolled him up for 2. Dillinger hit the Tiebreaker, but Wolfe put Young’s foot on the bottom rope. Dillinger took out Sanity with an outside dive. Dillinger hit a crossbody off the top rope, but Young rolled him up for 2. Dillinger was distracted by Sanity, and Young hit his finisher for the win.

Winner: Young.

We see Shinsuke Nakamura warming up backstage.

Singles Match: Roderick Strong vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas.

Strong rushed him and took him down. They got back to their feet and exchanged waist locks. Strong with a clothesline for 2 and then a back breaker. Almas used the top rope to his advantage. Almas with a slap and then start beating him down. Almas with a big boot for 2. Strong fought back with a samoan drop. Strong with a knee strike and then a drop kick. Strong went for an armbar but Almas powerbombed him for 2. Strong with a forearm shot but Almas cut him off with a kick. Strong cut him off with a knee strike. Almas fought out of a submission hold with elbow strikes then went to the top rope. Strong pushed him down, and Almas landed groin first. Strong hit a backbreaker onto the top rope for 2. Strong blocked a DDT, but Almas hip tossed him into the corner. Almas with a big clothesline. Almas with a double knee strike but Strong blocked a DDT and hit face plant then a running kick for the win.

Winner: Strong.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa © vs. The Authors of Pain.

Rezar and Ciampa started things off. Rezar pushed him into the corner but Ciampa landed a back elbow. Akam went for a powerbomb, but Gargano fought out of it. Both teams started brawling. DIY knocks them out of the ring. Gargano hit an outside dive onto both men. Rezar tossed Gargano into barricade. Authors of Pain beat down Gargano for a few minutes. Ciampa got the hot tag and hit a series of strikes. Ciampa with a back elbow and then a clothesline followed by a german suplex on both AOP members. Ciampa with a running knee to Akak. Akam with a big clothesline. Ciampa sent Rezar to the floor and tagged in Gargano, who hit a spear to Akam for 2. Akam took out Gargano with a clothesline then AOP hit double team powerbomb for 2. Gargano with a super kick to Rezar and Ciampa rolled up Akam then DIY locked in submission holds on both Akam and Rezar. Rezar picked up Gargano and suplexed him onto Ciampa. They exchanged strikes. DIY with a double superkick but AOP hit a powerbomb on Ciampa and Gargano. AOP hit their finisher on Ciampa for the win.

Winners and new NXT Tag Team Champions: Authors of Pain.

Seth Rollins came through the crowd and got into the ring to call out Triple H. He said he is not leaving the ring until Triple H comes out. Rollins asked and he received, Triple H walks out from the back. Triple H brought out three security guards and told them to get Rollins then he walked to the back. Rollins attacked the guards. More security guards came out and removed Rollins.

Fatal-4 Way NXT Women’s Championship Match: Asuka vs. Billie Kay vs. Peyton Royce vs. Nikki Cross.

Royce and Kay jumped out to the floor. Asuka and Cross were jumped by Kay and Royce from behind. Asuka hit a combo clothesline and bull dog on Royce and Kay. Kay and Royce jumped Cross and Asuka were arguing. Asuka hit a double german suplex for 2. Asuka with a german suplex to Cross then took out Kay and Royce. Cross hit Asuka with a neck breaker for 2. Cross went to the top rope and took out Royce and Kay. Cross brawled with Royce and Kay to the stage. Kay sent Cross face first into the announce table. They hit a double suplex to Cross through a table. Royce and Kay went down to the ring to attack Asuka. Kay hit a knee strike to Asuka for 2. Asuka kicked Royce in the face, but Kay kicked her in the face and hit the Widow’s Peak for the win. Asuka with a kick to Kay and then to Royce for the win.

Winner: Asuka.

NXT Championship Match: Shinsuke Nakamura © vs. Bobby Roode.

They do some mat wrestling early. Nakamura misses a kick and Roode starts taunting. Nakamura put him in the corner and landed a heel kick. Nakamura tossed him into the corner then Roode sent Nakamura to the floor. Nasty fall by Nakamura. Roode sent him into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Roode put the boots to him. Nakamura makes his comeback, but Roode rolled him up for 2. Roode with a back breaker for 2. Roode put him on the top rope, but Nakamura kicked him off and went for his finisher, but Roode kicked him in the face and used the ropes to his advantage when attempting to pin him but the referee stopped at a count of two. Nakamura fought back with a series of kicks. Nakamura with a flying armbar then a triangle choke but Roode fought out of it. Nakamura with a sliding knee strike for 2. Nakamura hit his finisher but sold his left knee and couldn’t make the cover. A WWE doctor ran down to the ring and checked on Nakamura. Nakamura got back into the ring and hit his DDT finisher for 2. Matt Bloom walked out to ringside. Nakamura went for a submission hold but had to let go due to the pain. Roode hit the DDT for the win.

Winner and new NXT Champion: Bobby Roode.

Roode celebrated in the ring while Nakamura was checked on by doctors to end the show.
