Randy Orton, who won the Sunday’s Royal Rumble match, recently spoke with ESPN about being a two-time Royal Rumble winner. He said that the adrenaline rush that he gets from wrestling is something that you can’t really experience anywhere else aside from bungee jumping or jumping out of a plane.
When asked how much he’s changed since winning his first Royal Rumble in 2009, he noted that a lot has changed for him. He noted that he has a very big family which includes his wife, three stepsons, his daughter Alanna and his two-month-old baby. He said that he is more grounded and more centered compared to how he was then. He added that he thinks that he is a better person because of his family.
When asked about being a two-time Royal Rumble winner, he noted that he has heard the fun facts about that but at the end of the day, he just wants to go home in one piece and with a paycheck and come back and put on the best match he can. He noted that he has been blessed. He said that his dad, Bob Orton, called up Vince McMahon to get him in the door in WWE. “Yet guys like this [pointing to AJ Styles, who was standing next to him] were busting their ass for years. But all those little facts and accomplishments, they are cool. All of that is important to the fans because it should be. But once it’s important to me, I become one of those big-head egos. It’s a family back here.”
