As noted earlier on the site, the plan is for John Cena to team up with girlfriend Nikki Bella to take on Maryse and The Miz in a tag team match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, FL. When the news of this match happening at the event was released, there were rumors that this would be Bella’s retirement match.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Bella will be taking time off as an in-ring competitor after the event as she has been trying her best to deal with the pain in her neck since returning at SummerSlam in August after having neck surgery. It was said that the pain is too much for her due to her full-time schedule with the company. Originally, she was returning as a part-time wrestler, but she eventually became full-time again. The pain often causes numbness to one side of her body. It was noted that she is hoping that with some time away from the ring will allow her to wrestle at big WWE events in the future. Needless to say, her full-time career is over and she will likely never wrestle a full-time live event schedule again.
Also, Bella’s contract with WWE is set to expire around the same time as WrestleMania 33, but it’s believed that the two sides will agree to a new deal before the event.
