Former WWE Women’s Champion Molly Holly recently appeared on on The Art Of Wrestling with Colt Cabana to talk about her career and more. During the interview, Holly recalled going to Vince McMahon to quit WWE in 2005. She noted that she was on RAW and brought up how fans think that she quit due to her losing to Christy Hemme, but she doesn’t event remember the match. She noted that she knew that she couldn’t be in WWE for another day at the time so after the event was over, she waited by McMahon’s office and when he came back to his office, she told him that she needed to talk to him. They went into his office and thanked him for everything that he had done for her. She asked to be let out of her contract despite the fact that she had nine months remaining on her current deal.
She noted that McMahon was awesome and that he told her how much he appreciated her as well as praised her. He noted that if she needed time off, then she is welcome to come back to the company at any time. Then, John Laurinaitis called her the next day and was upset that she went straight to Vince instead of him because he was in charge of Talent Relations. “I didn’t feel like Johnny could communicate to Vince in the same way I could, but Johnny was like, ‘are you sure you don’t just want some time off?’ and I was like, ‘I’m just done.”
