DDP comments on Triple H calling him about his WWE HOF induction, reflects on starting out in pro wrestling

Diamond Dallas Page recently spoke with ESPN.com about being inducted into the 2017 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame. When asked how Triple H broke the news of his Hall of Fame induction to him, he noted that WWE production handed him the phone while they were filming his new DVD and told him that the boss wanted to talk to him. He said that he called Triple H a couple of weeks earlier and thought that it was a return call. “He was down there with me at the Power Plant; he was Terra Rizin down in WCW. We rode together, we hung together. He’s talking about, ‘I never thought you could do it. This guy was like 35 and a half. What were you thinking? But you did it.’ He put me over to such a degree that I said, ‘Hey, wait a minute. Is it that call? I started getting choked up, and I couldn’t even talk.”

When asked about being an underdog in WCW, he stated that how could he not be the underdog and brought up him starting in pro wrestling at 35 years of age. He added that he went from a manager as well as a to being a fourth-string color commentator to being a wrestler. He said that he got his butt kicked a lot but learned from all of the mistakes that he made.
