Matt and Jeff Hardy…Impact or WWE-bound?, has the Broken Matt era ended?

The big question going forward with Impact Wrestling will be their creative direction. The feeling within the company is that they will probably go back to more traditional booking which would mean that we wouldn’t see much, if any, of the “Broken” Matt Hardy-type of storylines in the future.

Dave Meltzer reported this week that The Hardys are very much up in the air and although their deals expire this month, they have committed to dates through April. Independent promoters have been told that they cannot commit to anything for May until they figure out what their next step is. WWE has already made it clear that they are interested in both of them but if they go there then they would have to work a full-time schedule and they won’t have creative control over their storylines like they do in Impact Wrestling. If Impact decides to go back to traditional storylines, I don’t know how much freedom Matt and Jeff will have so it will be a tough decision for them on whether to stay or jump elsewhere.

Jeff Jarrett is running the ship so it will be interesting to see what the creative direction looks like at the next tapings and it will be interesting to see which talents stay and which talents are let go. Impact has already offered a deal to Nick Aldis (who was the first GFW Champion) and Kongo Kong (another name that worked for GFW) is being brought in.

By the way, the wedding segment from this week’s Impact Wrestling was tremendous. It was the first time in a long time that I’ve seen the crowd react to a segment like that so it clearly got over with them. Tremendous work from everyone involved.
