It doesn’t look like we will be seeing Alberto Del Rio in Impact Wrestling, according to PWInsider. As previously noted, John Gaburick is now working on the production side and does not have power in the company. He was the one trying to bring in Del Rio but the decision was made to hold him off until March. Now, unless both sides start talking again, it doesn’t look like he’s going there at all. Alberto has a hefty price tag for bookings and he is doing pretty good working his own schedule so that may have played a part in Impact Wrestling’s decision not to bring him in.
The original plan was to bring him in for the January tapings and there were talks with him towards the latter months of 2016. Anthem is being careful with how money is spent so they are not going to bring in any former WWE names unless it’s special circumstance. There will be exceptions but they have to stabilize the company and the hope is that they can start generating revenue via their digital platforms, house shows, new TV deals and hopefully a good paying TV deal in 2018.
