Brock Lesnar is the current WWE Universal Champion and his match against Samoa Joe is the talk of the WWE Universe right now as we approach Great Balls Of Fire on Sunday. But The Beast Incarnate doesn’t wrestle for free and his contract is a hefty one.
The WWE legend started with the company in 2002 but left in 2004 to pursue other interests like football (even though he never really made it as a Viking). He competed in New Japan and UFC winning both company’s biggest titles in the process. After a lengthy hiatus from Vince’s Party Of Poweslams Lesnar returned in 2012 and he’s been nonstop ever since.
Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania XXX, destroyed John Cena, had a nice little rivalry with Goldberg, and now he’s moving on to new targets. It looks like Brock Lesnar’s trajectory is looking up, to say the least. The only question might be what is in his future.
It was noted recently that Brock Lesnar’s current deal is actually ending after WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. This might mean the loss of Brock Lesnar once more, but it will certainly mean contract negotiations with WWE.
There is some speculation Brock Lesnar might not want to sign a new deal with WWE because he’s already made enough to retire already. However, when Dave Meltzer was recently asked a question concerning Brock Lesnar’s future in WWE he had a different story to tell.
“I’m presuming that they’ll keep it going” Dave Meltzer said on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. “Why would — as far as from his perspective why wouldn’t he? And from [WWE’s] perspective…I mean, I don’t know but they don’t like losing top guys so I would think they’ll keep him. And I would think for that kind of money for his schedule I don’t see [Lesnar] turning that down. I think he probably loves his job. Because it’s on his terms and he’s making a ton of money.”
