WWE could be bringing back an old pay-per-view concept

On July 24, WWE registered for “Taboo Tuesday” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The trademark is listed for “Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment; fan club services, namely, organizing and staging events with wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the field of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs in the fields of sports entertainment”

This could mean that they are planning on reviving the concept, although I don’t see how this could be done for a pay-per-view since they run Smackdown Live on Tuesday nights. Perhaps, they have plans to run a special “Taboo Tuesday” themed episode of Smackdown with fans voting on match stipulations.

The original Taboo Tuesday show aired on October 14, 2004, and it was the first time that the company allowed fans to vote on match-ups and stipulations. The main event of the first show (Randy Orton vs. Ric Flair) allowed the fans to vote on whether the match would be a submission match, Falls Count Anywhere match, or a steel cage match.

The show was moved to a different day in 2006 and thus was renamed Cyber Sunday. The last Cyber Sunday pay-per-view took place in 2008.
