When Miz came down to interrupt the possible dream match between Roman Reigns and John Cena it was a very unexpected surprise. But when Miz got in the ring and said, “so this is what a sold out Barclays looks like, I wouldn’t know” we knew he was gunning for greatness in this segment.
Miz was upset because they didn’t open the doors to the Barclays Center until the kickoff show actually went live. In fact, they used a shot of the huge mass of people waiting in line to get in when the show started. Nobody was in the arena yet because they were still waiting to get in. So Miz, Dallas, and Axel defeated Jason Jordan and The Hardy Boyz to essentially no audience.
His promo was on fire this week because he was still upset about his SummerSlam screw-job. He felt slighted and really unloaded in a big way.
It all worked because he was quite frankly legitimately pissed off. “He’s really mad about [SummerSlam] doing an empty arena match he didn’t expect to be an empty arena match,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.
His frustrations led to an excellent segment as he looks like a fine leader to a stable that very well might be growing in importance thanks to Miz’s excellent microphone skills.
