Paige will not be cleared, her WWE wrestling career is over

A week ago, the feeling regarding Paige’s injury situation was that she probably suffered a stinger and she’ll be back in the ring soon. That is not the case and unfortunately, her in-ring career is over. The news, first reported by PWInsider, is not what her fans were expecting.

Thet situation is being described similar to what Edge went through. Paige was told this week that she would not be cleared to return to the ring. The belief is that she was told this by WWE management backstage at Monday Night Raw. We should be clear here…she is said to be “done” as an in-ring performer.

For those of you that haven’t been following the news, Paige was injured during a live event in Uniondale, NY last month. The injury occurred when she took a hard double stomp kick to the back from Sasha Banks (click here to see the video). It was clear that Paige was not ready to take the bump and she immediately crashed to the ring canvas and had trouble getting back up. The referee called for the bell and the match was stopped as the trainer checked on her. She was then taken to the backstage area so that medical personnel could examine her.

WWE pulled her from all shows at the time as a precaution because they are extremely careful when wrestlers suffer injuries related to their neck and head. She was later announced as a competitor for the women’s Royal Rumble match but it was later determined that she would never be cleared to wrestle again.

Needless to say, the past year and a half have been tough on her. She had to deal with the issues with the leaked private photos, the public stories about her and Alberto El Patron, two WWE wellness policy failures, and she had to undergo neck surgery in late 2016. That injury kept her out of the ring for most of 2017.

But Paige, by all accounts, turned her life around. Friends of her that have seen her lately have said that she seems happy, she is no longer with El Patron, and being back on WWE TV was a good thing for her.

We wish nothing but the best for her. I would presume that WWE would have a role for her, perhaps as the manager for Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.
