This past Sunday, WWE started the Bayley/Sasha Banks feud. That continued on Monday when Bayley, in retaliation for Banks turning on her in the Elimination Chamber, refused to help her partner during a Six-Woman Tag Team Match.
WWE’s plan is for Bayley vs. Sasha Banks at WrestleMania. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter previously reported that this has been a match that they’ve wanted to do for some time but it’s been delayed a few times for various reasons. This would be the renewal of their feud from NXT, a feud that many people credit for helping the perception of women because of the great reaction to their matches.
It’s not clear yet who will be the heel in this feud but I find it interesting that Bayley is still advertised to team with Elias at the Madison Square Garden show taking place on March 16. Bayley and Elias will take on John Cena and Nikki Bella.
The Bayley vs. Banks feud will not end at WrestleMania. The plans are for them to continue after Mania for at least one more pay-per-view. As of this writing, it looks like WWE has 4 matches featuring women scheduled for WrestleMania – Bayley vs. Banks, Stephanie McMahon/Triple H vs. Kurt Angle/Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, and Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Championship. The Raw Women’s title match could be turned into a Triple Threat Match with Micke James added.
