Backstage WWE news on why Brock Lesnar was not at Raw on Monday

For those of you still wondering about Brock Lesnar’s WWE status, the fact that he worked on Saturday’s live event in Chicago should clear anything up for anyone still wondering if Roman Reigns was shooting on Monday.

The call to keep Lesnar off of Raw was described as an 11th hour decision, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The big giveaway was that Paul Heyman was also not at Raw. Three years ago, when Lesnar had a big blow up with Vince McMahon, there were no issues with Heyman and if Lesnar had walked out before Raw then Heyman would have still been backstage because the heat would not have been with him.

The original script for Raw was supposed to be a confrontation with Reigns. Keeping Lesnar off of Raw helped to get Reigns over as a face to the crowd and plays into some of the criticism that Lesnar gets for being a part-time wrestler making big-time money.

All of the rumors about Lesnar’s contract are true and he could be done after WrestleMania. Lesnar has indicated that he wants to fight again. If Lesnar goes back UFC and takes time away from WWE then it will be interesting to see what they decided to do with Heyman. Dave Meltzer noted this week that “Those close to the situation think [Lesnar is] UFC-bound.”
