WWE has announced that WWE Champion AJ Styles will take on Shinsuke Nakamura on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live. There was nothing mentioned about the title being on the line so presumably, this is going to be a non-title match.
Both men have matches scheduled for this Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view. Styles will defend the WWE Championship against Rusev and Nakamura will challenge for Jeff Hardy’s United States Championship.
Nakamura was sidelined after being bitten by a police dog a couple of weeks ago. He told the media in Japan that he expected to be back by Sunday’s pay-per-view. Obviously, he is feeling much better since is scheduled for Smackdown Live.
