Rey Mysterio headed to NJPW in August while talks with WWE continue

Rey Mysterio is close to signing a new deal with WWE but it looks like he will finish some commitments before the deal is signed.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Mysterio will be wrestling on August 12 at Budokan Hall on the final show for this year’s G1.

This would be Mysterio’s second match with NJPW following his debut at Dominion in Osaka where he teamed with Jushin Thunder Liger and Hiroshi Tanahashi against Cody Rhodes, Marty Scurll and Hangman Page. Mysterio has said that he would love to wrestle names like Will Ospreay, Liger and Scurll in singles matches but it’s not clear who will be his opponent in August.

Mysterio and WWE are said to be close with contract talks. At this point, he is still scheduled for All In on September 1st but if WWE could get their way, they would have him pull out. We’ll see if that ends up happening.
