WWE Hall Of Famer Lita took questions from fans during her panel at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday and she acknowledged the rumors about Women’s Tag Team Titles being introduced, possibly as soon as this Monday Night on Raw.
She is happy that WWE is taking this next step but feels that more women need to be moved up to the roster.
She said, “There’s been talk of tag titles for the women’s division and I think that I love that they introduced the [women’s] Money In The Bank briefcase. I think that’s been a long time coming and that adds an element of surprise within the title picture. I would love to see these rumored tag titles appear sooner than later but for that to happen, I hope they bring up some of these women that are at NXT or some women that they see on the Mae Young Classic and expand the roster.”
As previously reported, Stephanie McMahon will be returning to Raw this week to make a “historic announcement.” The belief among many in WWE is that she will announce plans for an all-women’s pay-per-view taking place in the fall. Belt Fan Dan, a credible source for belt-related news, said on Reddit that the Women’s Tag Team titles will be part of the announcement on Monday night.
All of this is part of WWE’s long-term plans to put more focus on the women, especially since their biggest mainstream star is a woman (Ronda Rousey). There has also been talk of headlining a future WrestleMania with a women’s match.
