Looks like WWE has plans for more WCW-themed shows

It looks like WWE has more plans for the Starrcade name. If you recall, WWE revived the Starrcade name for a live event last November in Greensboro, NC. Last week, on 7/17/18, they filed a trademark for “Starrcade” and the filing states that it is for the following:

“Entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events; providing wrestling news and wrestling information via the Internet, a global computer network or a mobile app; providing sports entertainment information regarding ongoing programming via the Internet, a global computer network or a mobile app; entertainment services, namely, a production and distribution of programming featuring wrestling rendered through the media of television, cable, satellite, radio, telephone and broadband systems, and via the internet and portable and wireless communication devices.”

Last year’s show did not air on the WWE Network but it was one of the most buzz-worthy live events of the year because they brought in some WCW names (Arn Anderson, Goldust as Dustin Rhodes, etc). The catered to fans that grew up watching Mid-Atlantic/WCW wrestling in the 80’s and 90’s. It will be interesting to see if they plan on streaming the show this year.

In other trademark news, WWE has filed for a trademark for “CG.” It’s not clear what this is for but the filing indicates that it’s for clothing. It’s possible that this could be for Chad Gable but that is not confirmed. Gable has not been featured much on WWE TV since being drafted to Raw but if this trademark is for him then maybe they have plans to do something meaningful with him. On the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggested for Gable to leave WWE. Click here to read what he said.

UPDATE: Reader Mark J. noted to us that the logo seen below was the “Chain Gang” logo used on John Cena merchandise.
