Update on John Cena’s status for WWE SummerSlam

John Cena is no longer a full-time performer with WWE but he has stated that he intends to continue to wrestle as long as his body allows him to. At last word, Cena plans on wrestling on big shows like SummerSlam and WrestleMania so let the speculation begin on his status for next month’s pay-per-view at the Barclays Center.

As previously reported, Cena did an interview a few months ago and he hinted that his feud with The Undertaker was not over because Taker’s win was a fluke because Cena was not ready to jump in the ring. The storyline explanation is that Cena was not expecting to answer his challenge at WrestleMania so he was caught off guard.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter was asked about Cena’s status for SummerSlam and he indicated that the rumor going around is that Cena will be there. He didn’t mention The Undertaker but that would, presumably, be his opponent in Brooklyn.

At this point, Cena is not being advertised for any upcoming episodes of Monday Night Raw but that could change when WWE has their plans locked in for his SummerSlam match.
