District Attorney General launches investigation into death of Brian Christopher Lawler

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has opened an investigation into the death of Brian Christopher Lawler. As previously noted, the belief is that he attempted to hang himself in jail last night. The investigation is being launched at the request of Mark Davidson, the 25th District Attorney General.

“Corrections officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived,” the TBI said in a statement. “Lawler was transported to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis where he died Sunday afternoon.”

The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Lawler was in jail as a result of his arrest on July 7 for a DUI and evading arrest and for driving with a revoked license.

Prior to his July arrest, Lawler was arrested in June on a charge of failure to pay an $800 bill with a friend at the Hampton Inn in Memphis.
