It looks like there are people in WWE not thrilled with Daniel Bryan right now because he has yet to sign a new contract. On Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez talked about what The Miz said to Bryan in his promo. Meltzer has been all over the Bryan-WWE contract talks and said the following about what Miz was scripted to say on Tuesday night, “You get that WWE writing. The fact is Daniel Bryan hasn’t signed his contract. If you watch that interview, it stands out like a sore thumb that he hasn’t signed that contract and they’re not happy.”
He continued, “Daniel Bryan, if he does go elsewhere – and he’s not, probably. There’s a lot of stuff that’s really weird going on. But if by some chance this year or next year or at some point he does go independent, he ain’t wrestling in high school gyms, bingo halls, and flea markets. He’s gonna do probably 50-60 dates and they’re gonna be the big New Japan shows…He’ll be doing Ring Of Honor shows that probably will be drawing pretty well and he’ll be doing Arena Mexico [which is] drawing more people than any arena in the world right now.”
It’s unclear what the “weird stuff” is but he could be referring to behind-the-scenes things going on or the promo from Tuesday night. For those of you that missed it, The Miz told Bryan to let his contract expire so he could “entertain dozens of people in high school gyms.” That was followed up by a montage of baby photos and audio of them crying.
