WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has finally spoken out about the untimely passing of former WWE Tag Team Champion Brian Christopher (also known as Grandmaster Sexay).
Christopher is the sone of Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, who Ross served alongside as the voices of Monday Night RAW for quite some time. In the latest edition of his podcast, The Ross Report, “Good Ole’ JR” offered his thoughts on Christopher’s passing.
A few days after being jailed for charges of a DUI and evading police, Christopher had been placed in a cell all by himself due to his notoriety. He subsequently hanged himself in prison and passed away at a nearby hospital. Ross finds it curious as to why Christopher was placed in solitary confinement if he was only arrested for a DUI:
“I never quite understood the reason for that,” said Ross. “I understand getting incarcerated for a DUI, or any other crime, I get that. But, in the solitary confinement? Unless you’re gonna say that it was for his own protection, I don’t know.”
Ross then talked about calling Christopher’s matches with his father, “The King,” and poking fun at the fact that “Grandmaster Sexay” was actually Lawler’s son on-air:
“I loved calling his matches with the King during the Attitude Era, as many as already remarked on social media,” said Ross. “Because I always had fun hinting that ‘Grandmaster Sexay’ was the King’s son. Good ole days, right? Good ole days.”
