Renee Young to fill in as guest commentator on WWE Monday Night Raw

WWE has announced that Renee Young will be the guest commentary this Monday on Raw for the SummerSlam go-home show in Greensboro, NC. She will be filling in for Jonathan Coachman, who will be away to fulfill another obligation.

“I believe this is the first time ever that we have had a woman in the booth for an entire episode of Monday Night RAW,” Michael Cole told ESPN.

“When Michael told me, I was like, ‘This Monday?! What are you talking about?!’,” Young said. “I am so excited for this opportunity. To be sitting with Cole, who has been such a great champion of mine since I’ve been working for WWE, it’s going to be really cool.”

Young has primarily served as the backstage interviewer on Raw and Smackdown Live broadcasts since joining the company in 2012. She was briefly added as a color commentator on WWE Superstars for a few months in 2014 and has said recently that she would love an opportunity to do more in WWE. Well, she will get her shot this Monday.  Young is also serving as one of the commentators alongside Cole and Beth Phoenix at this year’s Mae Young Classic.

Young’s work during the Paul Heyman sit-down interview was excellent. Hopefully, this guest commentary gig will lead to more for her in WWE.
