Daniel Bryan is getting ready for a big match with The Miz at SummerSlam but he has yet to sign a new WWE contract. The expectation is that they will get a deal done but if it’s not signed by September 1st then he will continue to work under the terms of the existing deal until pen is put to paper.
So, what is the hold up with his new deal? Bryan was interviewed by Fox Sports Australia to hype SummerSlam and the Super Show-Down event taking place this October in Australia. He said that there’s a couple of things that have dragged out the process.
The main thing is that he got a lawyer to represent him in negotiations, something most wrestlers don’t do. “There’s a couple of things like that (how much time I get to spend with my family),” he said.
“This is the first time in my career, ever – the thing that’s taking so long with all of it is I’ve never hired a lawyer before to look at a contract, so this is the first time I’ve done it, so it just takes longer than usual (laughs).”
As written here before, Bryan’s new deal will require him to wrestle less dates. WWE has already accomodated him for this current run and he is hoping to wrestle between 50-100 times per year on his next deal.
If you are expecting him at All In or at the Ring Of Honor MSG show, don’t bet on it because it looks like he will be part of the WWE family for a long time.
