Shinsuke Nakamura comments on his WWE deal expiring in 2019

In 2016 Shinsuke Nakamura left New Japan Pro Wrestling to sign a three-year deal with WWE. That contract is set to expire in January of 2019.

There has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not Nakamura will remain in WWE or opt to return to his home country of Japan. In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Nakamura addressed this situation. Instead of talking about the professional wrestling aspect of the decision, he focused more on the affects it would have on his surfing habit:

“That is a big decision,” Nakamura said. “Florida’s waves are better than Japan, it’s just an hour drive to the beach but just once a week I’m able to go to the surfing. But in Japan, if there’s a hurricane so I lived across from the beach, just a ten-minute walk. It’s hard to choose.”

Nakamura then discussed how he has been able to communicate with the WWE Universe lately. The former NJPW star’s English isn’t great, but his facial expressions and body motions to better communicate with the audience:

“I’m enjoying every moment more so now,” Nakamura said. “[It’s] my real emotion. So language is important I know for the TV show, so a lot of people watches WWE everywhere.

“Asia, Africa… some people don’t understand English like me. That’s why I use facial expressions and body motions. Also, wrestling is like a universal language I believe so that’s why I don’t speak English.”
