The final Monday of 2018 will fall on New Year’s Eve. The problem is that WWE Monday Night Raw would coincide with the New Year’s Eve festivities taking place across the country and it’s generally considered a bad night for television, aside from the New Year’s Eve coverage on the major networks. Of course, the 12/31 date is also bad for the talent who would probably rather be at home on New Year’s Eve.
WWE will solve that problem by doing a special Friday night taping. The Little Caesars Arena in Detroit announced the December 28 show on Twitter but it’s unclear if the show will air live on a Friday night or if they are taping and airing the show on New Year’s Eve.
If they decide to air a taped show on 12/31 then they are risking getting one of their lowest ratings in history. Either way, this will probably be a throwaway episode.
Tickets will go on sale on September 15 at 10 am.
