In April, UFC star Conor McGregor stormed the Barclays Center and attacked a fighter bus by throwing a dolly at one of the windows. The glass broke and cut nearby fighters inside the bus. McGregor’s actions stemmed from a personal issue he had with 155-pound champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“The Eagle” insulted one of McGregor’s close friends and training partners, Artem Lobov. Nurmagomedov cornered Lobov with his entourage at the designated fighter hotel and intimidated him. This provoked McGregor’s actions, who was subsequently arrested for the ordeal.
Now, McGregor is being sued by fellow UFC fighter Michael Chiesa. Chiesa was cut by the glass shattered after McGregor threw the dolly into the window. His face was cut very badly and Chiesa was forced out of his then-scheduled fight against Anthony Pettis. As a result, Chiesa lost out on a payday.
He is suing Chiesa for damages, claiming the incident resulted in economic loss and as well as physical and mental distress. The lawsuit also lists the Barclays Center as being at fault, claiming they didn’t “engage in proper security measures to protect the plaintiff.”
