Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship was the semi-main event for this year’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Rousey was accompanied to the ring by Natalya and Bliss was accompanied by Mickie James and Alicia Fox. As the match got started, Michael Cole wondered about the status of Rouse’s ribs after being attacked last Monday on Raw.
Rousey could have won the match early but Fox and James kept getting involved. Late in the match, Rousey went for her finisher but her ribs gave out and that allowed Bliss to get some offense. That was the only way to make Bliss semi-credible against Rousey because this match would have been over in 10 seconds in real-life. Fox and James got involved again but Natalya took out Fox at ringside while Rousey took out James.
Rousey and Bliss both went for a crossbody but that affected Rousey’s “injured” ribs. Rousey finally got some momentum with a gutwrench powerbomb on Bliss. She followed up with punches to the body and arm drags. Rousey charged but was caught with a kick to the ribs. Rousey caught Bliss’ arm and then picked her up and tossed her. She followed up with the armbar submission. Rousey retains.
What’s next for Rousey? She will team with The Bella Twins against The Riott Squad at the Super Show-Down event in Melbourne, Australia.
