WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has opened up on the rumors about his involvement in the newly launched All Elite Wrestling promotion as he has been linked to working with the company since it was reported in October that Ross along with Chris Jericho and agent Barry Bloom were the ones starting their own wrestling promotion.
As of this writing, the promotion has yet to officially announced that Ross would be involved in the operation despite it being reported that Ross would be “heavily involved” with the company.
The pro wrestling legend talked about these rumors on the most recent edition of the Ross Report where he brought up how he’s not concerned about it but instead, enjoying his life and celebrating his birthday this week.
“My name’s been bandied around because my WWE contract ends in March. So what? I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m not really concerned about it,” said Ross. “I’m more concerned about celebrating my 67th birthday this week. I don’t know what the future holds. It’s not something I worry about. Many aspects of that are things I cannot control. I’m not going to invest a lot of time in drama and put my skin in the game in something I can’t control or influence.”
Ross’ contract with the WWE is slated to expire in March. Earlier in the episode, he brought up his relationship with Tony Khan, who is the President of AEW.
“I met him before this idea was ever hatched. He came to the weekend where NJPW had the double-header in Long Beach. We met, hung out, had a few beers and talked wrestling. That’s my relationship with Tony. I saw him at All In, passed him in the hallway.”
