It was confirmed this week on SmackDown Live that Becky Lynch will indeed get her title shot against Asuka at the Royal Rumble. The match was expected by most because the company accidentally announced it earlier this month on WWE Main Event.
As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is still talk of having Lynch enter the Royal Rumble match so she would be working twice on that show.
If she ends up going in a surprise entrant and then winning the match then she would go on to WrestleMania to face Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship.
Nothing is set in stone but they would also need to find a way to get Charlotte Flair in the match if they stick with plans for Rousey vs. Lynch vs. Flair at WrestleMania.
There are several ways things could play out on the road to WrestleMania because they also have the Elimination Chamber happening in February and Fastlane in March so they don’t necessarily need to have Lynch win at the Rumble.
As of today, here is the list of names announced for the Royal Rumble:
Men’s Royal Rumble: R-Truth, Drew McIntyre, Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Jeff Hardy, Dean Ambrose, Bobby Lashley, Samoa Joe, John Cena, Elias, Baron Corbin, Jinder Mahal, Apollo Crews, Andrade “Cien” Almas, Mustafa Ali, Rey Mysterio
Women’s Royal Rumble: Carmella, Ember Moon, Natalya, Bayley, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Sasha Banks, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Alicia Fox, Zelina Vega, Naomi
