Another WWE Superstar got a slight name change this week.
According to WWE.com, Andrade “Cien” Almas will simply be known as Andrade. This was confirmed this week on SmackDown Live during a backstage segment.
This is not unusual for WWE. Sometimes it’s for legal reasons but most of the time it’s just a decision made by management with no real reason behind it.
Here’s a list of Superstars that have had their names shortened in recent years:
– Antonio Cesaro
– Apollo Crews became Apollo for a few months but it was changed back
– Big E Langston
– Charlotte became Charlotte Flair
– Elias Sampson
– Luke Harper is now known as just Harper
– Tamina Snuka
No word on why they shortened Andrade’s name but it was likely a Vince McMahon decision as he has been known to do that.
