There is more news coming out on what went down last Monday night when The Revival, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, asked for WWE to release them.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that the team was not happy by the little time and respect that is given to the entire tag team division.
Dawson and Wilder are said to be upset about their lack of promos, backstage segments and overall direction of the division. The tag team division has been seen as an afterthought by Vince McMahon for decades. You would have to go back to the late ’80s or early ’90s to find a time when tag teams were consistently treated as a big deal and that is the tag team wrestling that Dash and Wilder grew up on.
One source used The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) as examples of how so many teams are being treated as an afterthought. The Authors of Pain are another casualty of the tag team booking as they haven’t been featured on television in several weeks.
Basically, The Revival’s feelings boiled over on Monday night and immediately after their match, while still in their gear, they asked to be released but it was reportedly denied.
Sources told Pro Wrestling Sheet that there has been communication between WWE and The Revival since Raw but it is not clear if anything has been resolved. It was reported this week by Bryan Alvarez that they asked to work in NXT. We don’t know when they made that request or if WWE is taking their request into consideration.
They are unlikely to get a release and the chances of seeing early releases have increased in recent months due to the launch of All Elite Wrestling. Dawson and Wilder are said to have a “decent amount of time” left on their contracts.
