There are more details on Abyss and Sonjay Dutt in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
For those of you that missed it, Abyss and Dutt are leaving Impact Wrestling and they are headed to WWE as part of NXT in a backstage role. They will not be wrestling.
Abyss wasn’t under contract with Impact Wrestling and he wasn’t doing much in front of the camera but he was working there behind the scenes. Dutt was of the two writers for the Impact TV show with Jimmy Jacobs and was under contract through September. Impact agreed to let him go because they didn’t want to stand in the way of a good offer from WWE.
The reason why WWE wanted Dutt and Abyss is that they are looking to expand NXT and they need more help. Jeremy Borash’s best friends at Impact are Abyss and Dutt and Jimmy Long so he will be working with people he trusts at NXT.
Impact will be adding Tommy Dreamer and Konnan to their creative team.
