The news broke yesterday and it was confirmed today that Bob Stoops, the former Head Coach for the University of Oklahoma, will be the Head Coach for the XFL’s Dallas team.
Stoops had an impressive 190-48 coaching record and was offered jobs in the NFL but turned them down so this is a “big get” for Dallas and the league as they work to convince people that this re-launch is being done the “right way” instead of how things were done the first time in 2001.
Jim Ross noted on Twitter that he is close friends with Stoops and he is very excited about the news and he praised the league for hiring him.
The league is expected to announce the remaining coaches “very soon.” They also have plans to announce quarterbacks for each team within the next couple of months.
The league will launch in 2020 on Saturday, February 8 just after the NFL’s Super Bowl.
