As noted earlier this week, Seth Rollins is not taking bumps on WWE TV because of an injury.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided more details on what is going on with Rollins. Basically, he’s been hurting for some time and the issue is with his back.
Going into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, he knew he needed to take time off so he could heal. The injury is not serious enough that he can’t wrestle but the company is not taking any chances so he is resting up so he can be ready for his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.
Meltzer noted that WWE wants him to be as close to 100 percent as possible for his match with Lesnar. This is reminiscent of Shawn Michaels in 1998. Michaels went into his match with Steve Austin with a bad back injury and gutted his way through the match.
At this point, there is nothing to indicate that Rollins’ injury is as bad as Michaels’ injury.
