WWE changes plans – Kofi Kingston now the front-runner to face Daniel Bryan at Fastlane

There has been a major change of plans for the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view.

24 hours ago, Kofi Kingston was not in the plans for the Fastlane main event but that has changed and he is now the front-runner to face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship.

Dave Meltzer reported today that, unless there is a last-minute change, Kingston will be announced as soon as tonight on SmackDown Live. This appears to be a reaction to the overwhelming fan response on social media after Kingston’s excellent performance on last week’s SmackDown Live and at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Local advertising had a Triple Threat Match listed with Bryan defending against AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. It looks like that match will not be happening at Fastlane.

There is no word on if any of this changes plans for Bryan’s match at WrestleMania. As noted earlier, the current plan is to bring someone back to face Bryan. You can click here to see the list of names in consideration to face Bryan at Mania.
