It looks like we will see more young talent getting pushed on WWE Monday Night Raw, now that Paul Heyman is being tasked to turn things around for the brand.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Ricochet is one of the guys being looked at as a top star. He also mentioned Shayna Baszler as someone who Heyman is high on.
“Heyman’s high on [Shayna Baszler] and Heyman’s high on Ricochet,” Meltzer said. He noted how Ricochet has been in two straight Raw main events so it’s clear that there are plans for him.
One big reason why Ricochet is someone Heyman would want to push is that he is someone who can appeal to teenagers and Vince McMahon is well aware that the WWE product has not been connecting with the young audience. As noted earlier, the launch of AEW is also forcing changes on WWE because AEW is drawing in younger fans.
Meltzer said, “He’s a guy that can appeal to teenagers. That’s the goal right now is to make sure those teenagers don’t go to AEW before AEW can get on the air.”
Other names that may benefit from Paul Heyman being in charge are AJ Styles, Tommaso Ciampa (when he returns from injury), and Lio Rush. They haven’t used Rush in many weeks but Heyman could be his saving grace. These are names that Heyman has given high praise to on social media.
