WWE Raw: Universal Championship match set for SummerSlam

A number 1 contender is set for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam in Toronto. The number 1 contender was determined via a battle royal on Monday Night Raw. The competitors in the match were Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Big E, Cesaro, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Braun Strowman, Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin. Originally, Daniel Bryan was advertised for this match but they had other plans for him apparently and he was replaced by Zayn. Universal Champion Brock Lesnar watched the match from the stage with Paul Heyman.

Rollins won the battle royal so he will get his rematch next month. After the match, Paul Heyman cut a promo and announced Rollins as the winner “and the man who now gets to go to SummerSlam to be beaten, victimized and conquered.”

Rollins grabbed the mic and he told Heyman to step aside so he could talk directly to Lesnar. Rollins said he is possessed and he will fight anyone until he can beat Lesnar and he promised to beat Lesnar at SummerSlam. He promised to end SummerSlam by stomping Lesnar’s head and standing over him as champion.

Battle royal eliminations:

– Bobby Lashley eliminated Cesaro
– Braun Strowman eliminated Bobby Lashley
– Sami Zayn eliminated Big E
– Randy Orton eliminated Sami Zayn
– Baron Corbin eliminated Rey Mysterio
– Seth Rollins eliminated Baron Corbin
